Uphall Estates Ltd is seeking planning permission in principle for the new mixed-use development at Station Road.

Plans to create a new 150 park and ride car park will also increase capacity at Uphall train station by 50%.

A spokesperson for Uphall Estates said: “Following a pre-application consultation process held during summer 2020, Uphall Estates Ltd have now submitted an application for planning permission in principle for a mixed-use development at land east of Station Road, Uphall.

“The application is supported by a full Environmental Assessment Report and associated technical studies to support the proposals which will redevelop an area historically used by the oil shale industry to provide a highly sustainable new neighbourhood.

“The application will then be fully considered by West Lothian Council over the coming months and we look forward to discussing the project further with the local community and council officers.”

A West Lothian Council spokesperson said: “An application has been received for planning permission in principle for a 26ha mixed-use development including residential accommodation on the south side of the A89 at Uphall.

“The site in question is not allocated for development in the West Lothian Local Development Plan.

“The application will be assessed and taken through the normal planning process for an application of its type which includes taking account of public and consultee comments.

“A decision will follow in due course.”
