£6m of Scottish wins for ISG

ISGISG has added a further £6 million of projects to its recent tally of Scottish wins, which last month included £11m of secured work in Edinburgh.

The latest two schemes in St Andrews and Glasgow include the creation of a new hotel and retail outlet and an office refurbishment for Network Rail.

The contractor is returning to St Andrews, following the successful conclusion of projects valued in excess of £17m at the Hamilton Grand and the Old Course Hotel. At the home of golf, ISG has now commenced construction on a £5m mixed-use scheme for developer Crucible St Andrews - delivering a Premier Inn Hotel and new Marks & Spencer store. Occupying a prime central site in the town’s Largo Road, the first stage of the scheme involves the demolition of existing industrial buildings and retention of this crushed material on site, to make way for the hotel and 16,000 sq ft retail outlet.

The 65 room, three-storey Premier Inn hotel incorporates dining and refreshment facilities and features a composite steel and timber frame structure. The external elevations of the new hotel include a combination of facing brick, curtain walling and rain screen cladding elements. The project is scheduled to complete ahead of next summer’s British Open Golf Championship, which is being hosted by St Andrew’s.

ISG has also just completed a £1.2 million project in Glasgow to refurbish office accommodation for Network Rail at its St Vincent Street base. Encompassing six floors of the building, the company has replaced and upgraded the building’s mechanical and electrical services and refurbished and reconfigured existing space, to create a number of new cellular offices and meeting rooms and a staff deli. ISG carefully phased the project to enable Network Rail staff to remain in occupation within the building throughout the duration of the fast-track project.

Andy McLinden, ISG’s Scotland regional managing director, said Crucible St Andrew’s and Network Rail are “significant additions” to ISG’s growing portfolio of high-quality customers.

“The burgeoning hospitality market sees our specialist sector expertise in strong demand and working with Network Rail in Glasgow further strengthens our relationship with this longstanding and important national customer,” he added.
