Aberdeen architects among finalists for Northern Star Business Awards
A firm of architects based in Aberdeen is in the running for a top award at the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce Northern Star Business Awards.
Cumming & Co is one of four finalists in the Business of the Year category.
Established in 2001 by now retired architect Allan Cumming, the practice has for the last six and a half years been under the watchful eye of Mark Taylor and Nicola Forsyth. Over the years Cumming & Co has developed its business based mainly on referred business from existing clients and currently employ fourteen people all based in the North East of Scotland.
The work is very varied from small domestic projects through to large scale offices and currently its main focus is on the leisure sector working with a Dutch development company procuring Moxy Hotels throughout the U.K.
The practice recently completed a 437 bedroom hotel at Heathrow airport, a Moxy at Edinburgh airport and a Moxy at Merchant City in Glasgow. It is currently working at the NEC in Birmingham, Inverness and as far south as Southampton.
Managing director Mark Taylor said: “This is a great achievement for our business and for Architecture in the North East of Scotland. To be recognised amongst some of the U.K.’s top companies is thrilling and is recognition for the hard work everyone at Cumming and Co puts into the business on a daily basis. We strive to provide the best service we can to all our clients whether large or small and this will continue as we continue to grow.”
Now in their 16th year, the Awards – held in association with the Press & Journal - recognise companies in the North-east for their exceptional accomplishments across a range of fields from internationalisation and innovation to people development, environmental action and customer service.
The winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony on September 26 at P&J Live.
