Steeped in history, The Leading Light is located on the iconic Middle Pier which was used to guide ships along the Firth of Forth into Granton Harbour.

Unlike most Scottish designs, the lantern within The Leading Light is a simple but unusual design as it housed a 4th order Fresnel lens, built by Chance Brothers of Birmingham in around 1869. The light remained in use until 1970, after which the lens was removed.

The imposing building currently stands at an impressive 12 metres and comprises a lantern gallery supported by a slim, tapering concrete stem in a Modernist style; access to the gallery and light is provided by a ladder.

The £500 million Edinburgh Marina development is at the forefront of Edinburgh Waterfront regeneration in Granton and includes; a marina comprising 427 full-serviced berths with 24/7 access at all states of tide, new homes for sale and to rent, the Hyatt Regency Spa and Conference hotel, with serviced apartments, in addition to the Chestnut medical hub and neighbourhood shopping.
