Approval granted for new Bishopbriggs primary school

Bishopbriggs primary schoolEast Dunbartonshire Council has given planning permission for a new primary school in Bishopbriggs.

Lodged via architect Archial NORR, the proposals are for a two-storey school with attached nursery on Kirriemuir Road.

To be built by Morgan Sindall, the new school will replace the existing Auchinairn Primary and Woodhill Primary schools, with the building to be built on the site of Woodhill Primary.

Features of the project include associated parking, playground areas and a sports pitch.

In addition, the school is part of the council’s Primary School Improvement Programme.

It is scheduled to open during sessions 2016/17.

Councillor Billy Hendry, chair of the planning board, said: “All representations were considered and permission has been granted with the relevant conditions in place.

“I am delighted that we are now moving forward with the delivery of a new purpose-built school in Bishopbriggs.”
