The housebuilder is investing in eight new sites creating a further 887 private new homes and 66 affordable new homes.

The landmark investment in 92 acres of land will see the company increase the number of live developments from nine to sixteen, subject to planning permission, over the next six months, with a target of 20 by the end of 2020.

Construction work has started on 110 homes and 20 affordable properties at its newly launched Silverwood development in Eliburn, West Lothian and on 114 apartments at Dorchester 183, in Glasgow’s G12.

Scheduled to launch this month is Calderwood in East Calder which will be under Bellway’s sister brand Ashberry Homes and will see 105 homes being built in the village.

This will be followed at the end of the month by Landsdale in East Kilbride which will offer a collection of 108 homes. A further 74 private and 10 affordable homes will also be built at Barrhead, close to its existing Rosemont Park development.

Further developments are planned for Robroyston, Armadale, and Helensburgh in 2020.

The latest acquisitions come after a major restructuring of the Scottish operation, which saw a separate spin-out division being created in the East in August 2018 to meet increasing demand for new homes in the Lothians.

Fraser Conn

Fraser Conn, regional director, Bellway Homes Ltd (Scotland West), said: “The last year has been an extremely busy one for us, with the launch of the new division in the East and more than 547 houses being built in the West.

“Despite the economic uncertainty in the UK at large, the fundamentals remain strong for the industry with a significant shortage of new build homes in Scotland, constant innovation in building techniques and a skilled workforce.

“To future proof the business we are investing in new people, taking on apprentices and supporting a number of school leavers directly into the industry, who are benefitting from being mentored by our award-winning site managers.

“Customer service is crucial to our continued success and retaining our five star builder status, which means that over 90% of our purchasers would recommend us to a friend, is at the heart of everything we do.”

Mr Conn added that the company is on the acquisition trail and is in early discussions on further new sites, in addition to the eight already earmarked.

He said: “If successful this could lead to another 951 new homes being built on 87 acres of land.”

The housebuilder’s new sites will join its current developments: Archerway in Carluke, Brackenhill Park in Hamilton, Dargavel Village in Bishopton, Fardalehill in Kilmarnock, Heartlands in Whitburn, Manor Park in Cumbernauld, Oakwood in Gartcosh, Rosemont Park in Barrhead and Watson Park in Chryston.
