  • Demolition phase at St James Centre site complete

The demolition phase of Edinburgh’s St James redevelopment is complete.

Construction of the £850 million project is getting under way, with completion due by 2020.

After years of delay, work finally began in late 2016 to demolish the concrete complex.

The new Edinburgh St James will comprise 850,000 sq ft of retail space, anchored by the John Lewis store.

It will also feature a multi-screen cinema, a 214-room hotel and 150 private apartments.

 



  • Water mains upgrade works underway in Crianlarich

Water mains upgrade works have started in Crianlarich, Scottish Water has announced.

The utility is investing around £120K in improvements to a section of water main to provide customers with additional resilience and security of supply.

Work involves contractors Clancy Docwra installing 222 metres of new pipework along Station Road from its junction with Main Street. It is expected to take around three weeks for completion.



 

  • A9 Dualling works continue following festive break

Transport Scotland is reminding A9 road users to drive with care on approach to the works area between Luncarty and Pass of Birnam as traffic restrictions continue following the festive holidays.

Balfour Beatty, the contractor for the A9 Dualling: Luncarty to Pass of Birnam project has scheduled the final phase of enabling works to begin on January 14, for approximately three weeks.



These enabling works will facilitate the completion of temporary site accesses along the route and prepare for the installation of traffic management and barriers which are required for the main construction works beginning in earnest in early February.

Details of future traffic management required to allow the main works to progress will be published this month.

 

  • Major resurfacing works underway on A709

Dumfries and Galloway Council has announced the closure of the A709 between A75 Dumfries Bypass and Catherinefield Road to allow for major resurfacing works.
