Construction, refurbishment and maintenance contractor Clark Contracts has won £25 million of new orders in the last six months.

The contracts include the refurbishment of the Northern Lighthouse Board’s Edinburgh headquarters on George Street and the extension of the Category A listed Kilmardinny House Arts Centre in Bearsden to create a conference, wedding and arts centre for hub West Scotland.

Deafblind Scotland has appointed Clark Contracts to build its £1.5m Field of Dreams in Lenzie, a modern learning and development facility for dual sensory impaired people, and the company is currently fitting out the new office for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) at 110 Queen Street in Glasgow.

Work is also being undertaken to refurbish teaching space within the Aeronautical Building of Ayrshire College’s Ayr Campus and replace the shopping mall flooring within Ropewalk shopping centre in Nuneaton.

The order book also features a number of projects for returning customers such as the University of Edinburgh, including the second phase of refurbishment works at the Pleasance Complex, following the contractor’s completion of phase 1 to redevelop the Category B listed theatre complex. Inverclyde Council has appointed Clark Contracts to deliver the £1.8m refurbishment of the Former Education HQ in Greenock.

Repeat customers also account for two new orders from Lidl UK for the construction of a new supermarket in Craigmillar, Edinburgh and refurbishment of an existing store in Arbroath. The universities of Glasgow, St Andrews, Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian have also awarded the contractor new work.

Gordon Cunningham, managing director at Clark Contracts, said “It has been fantastic to welcome so many new customers. We are always keen to maintain a positive mix of orders from new and returning customers and the combination of these new orders will make a very significant contribution to our performance this year.”
