Commercial property director kicks off new venture with £100m transactions pipeline

Gordon Pirie

Gordon Pirie has developed commercial property investment agency and development consultancy Gordon Pirie & Company to support a wide range of clients across Scotland but with a focus on the intricate workings of the Aberdeen commercial property market.

Stepping aside from his director role at Aberdeen’s CBRE office, Mr Pirie will continue to work jointly with his former colleagues on some larger-scale projects.

More than ten clients are already lined up to work jointly with the new business and CBRE, including First Endeavour, Aberdeen Standard Investments, Aviva, Titan Investors and Dandara.

A graduate in land economy, Mr Pirie has over 16 years of experience in the local commercial property market having previously worked for Ryden, Drum Property Group and Clydesdale Bank before joining CBRE in 2012.

During his time at CBRE he was involved in a number of high-profile transactions, including the £45m acquisition of Annan House for Patrizia, the £23.5m disposal of KCA Deutag’s HQ at City South on behalf of Dandara and recently, the £11m forward funding of Oceaneering’s new workshop at D2 Business Park on behalf of Miller Developments.

Mr Pirie said: “I have always had an ambition to branch out on my own and I feel the timing is right to take that step. The market is undoubtably going through an uncertain time both nationally and locally at the present time however, my experience over the years has shown me that uncertain times create opportunity for investors and developers looking to capitalise on correctly priced stock.

“I’m in a hugely fortunate position to begin this venture with some excellent clients whom I have worked with over a number of years, and I’m looking forward to continuing to support them, as well as new clients. I’m also very much looking forward to continuing to work alongside the team at CBRE on a number of prestigious instructions.”

With specialised local experience and a strong investor network, Gordon Pirie & Company will currently focus primarily on the north and north-east markets, however, will look at opportunities for key clients in the central belt.
