Cruden submits plans for new community in Johnstone
Cruden Homes has lodged a Detailed Planning Permission application with Renfrewshire Council for 99 new homes in Johnstone.
The proposed development at Rannoch Road interlinks an area identified for community growth in the Renfrewshire Local Development Plan as a possible residential site and has been developed in line with the local authority’s guidance for New Developments and Residential Design.
Located a few miles from Johnstone town centre, the proposed development will offer a mix of new houses, including two-bedroomed terraces and three and four-bedroomed semi-detached and detached family homes.
The design and layout for the new neighbourhood have been developed to respond to the surrounding landscape and offers opportunities to extend the surrounding footpath and cycle network into the site. The streets and lanes connecting the development will be pedestrian-friendly, with a children’s play area, and the surrounding woodland planting will also be retained.
The local community and councillors had the opportunity to discuss the proposals for the site and provide valuable feedback on the designs at a Public Consultation Event held in June at Cochrane Castle Community Centre, prior to the final design.
Commenting on the planning application, Fraser Lynes, managing director of Cruden Homes (West), said: “This proposed development will help to create much-needed quality family housing for local people and the Rannoch Road site is well placed to take advantage of the surrounding road and public transport network and local amenities within the town.”
He added, “I would like to thank the local community for engaging in our consultation. I would also like to thank those who submitted their views, which we have done our best to incorporate into the final proposals.”
The application will be considered by Renfrewshire Council’s community, housing and planning board in the coming months.
