Dandara to deliver major Aberdeen distribution hub

DPD Badentoy North VisualDandara is to develop a new north-east Scotland distribution hub for parcel delivery company DPD at its Badentoy North business park on the outskirts of Aberdeen.

DPD has secured the 43,000sq ft office and workshop facility, with extensive yard, on a 4 acre site in a 25-year deal.

Dandara is providing a full design and build service for DPD at Badentoy North, and is expected to invest in excess of £6 million to deliver the distribution hub to DPD with completion targeted for March 2017.

The site is expected to create 20 new jobs, as DPD doubles the size of its operations in the north-east, relocating from its current base in Altens to the new bespoke distribution hub.

Neil Young, commercial development director at Dandara, said: “This is a significant investment in the north-east by DPD, and we are pleased to welcome them as the third major tenant at Badentoy North.

“The facility will bring the latest in logistics sorting and distribution technology to Aberdeen for the first time – DPD is now the only major delivery provider to create a regional hub with these capabilities in the north-east rather than a smaller scale delivery depot.

“Badentoy North benefits from nearby access to the main trunk road network, adjacent to the A90 and a few moments from the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route, giving tenants superb connectivity to local, regional and national destinations.”

DPD’s site is opposite a 20,000sq ft workshop, yard and office facility Dandara will shortly begin constructing for KCA Deutag, which is due for completion in March 2016, and adjacent to Schlumberger’s 70,000 sq ft office and warehouse facility.

Meanwhile, at Dandara’s nearby City South Office Park, construction of KCA Deutag’s new North Sea office headquarters is proceeding on schedule, alongside speculative office pavilions some of which are already ready for occupation.

The projects are part of more than £40m of construction activity being undertaken by Dandara in north-east Scotland, which includes premises for Bibby Offshore and Forum Energy Technologies at Westhill.
