Regional director of BAM Construction in Scotland, Douglas Keillor, has been appointed to the board of BAM Construct UK.

Keillor will join as executive director and replace managing director Richard Bailey who is stepping down on 1 August after a career spanning 39 years.

Douglas Keillor has 26 years’ service with the company and has been regional director of BAM Construction in Scotland since 2013.

A successor to Keillor in Scotland will be named later in the year.

Mr Bailey said that “the time is right” to pursue other interests outside of BAM.

Chief executive Graham Cash said: “Richard Bailey joined the company in 1977 and rose steadily through construction management becoming regional director of BAM Construction in Western in 1995. In 2007, Richard was appointed to the board of BAM Construct UK.

“In all of these roles Richard has been a tremendous supporter of people and he has been a pioneer of countless new ideas from developing sustainability to Zero Harm to lean to collaboration.

“Many people in the company regard Richard as a friend and mentor and he will be missed by all. I want to take this opportunity to thank Richard for giving so generously to the company, especially since 2007 when he has travelled the length and breadth of the regions, barely seeing home from a Monday to a Friday.”

With effect from 1 August 2016 the management of BAM Construct UK Ltd consists of Graham Cash, Douglas Keillor and James Wimpenny.
