The facility is the first phase of a planned 28-acre regeneration of the former site of the Johnnie Walker Scotch Whisky facility in Kilmarnock and is designed to provide an exciting environment for digital, manufacturing and cyber businesses.

Emtec Building Services is providing the full MEP services for the project under a Design and Build contract, which comprises of a new build, mixed-use four-storey building including a public café, retail space and 3 storeys of lettable office space.

The project incorporates the implementation of integrated service rafts, which are being prefabricated at Emtec’s off-site facility in Rutherglen along with other elements such as plant room skids. Solar PV shall be provided by Emtec Energy, which continues to investigate the future renewables potential of the entire site.

The “Halo” effect will be achieved at rooftop level with the installation of a perforated screen housing the external plant illuminated by specialist LED energy efficient lighting.

Following on from the initial design intent provided by Ramboll, Emtec’s design for the project is progressing well along with Hawthorn Boyle, who it has employed to complete the M&E Services design to BIM Level 2.

Emtec said: “We welcome the participation in strong client engagement using a collaborative approach between Halo, Morrison Construction and Emtec Group companies including Building Services, Off-site Prefabrication, Energy and Facilities Services maximising all available opportunities.”

The main services installations commence June 2020 with project completion scheduled for November 2020.
