Fairhurst has expanded its traffic and transport planning service in Scotland with the appointment of John Craft to the position of principal transport planner.

To be based in the firm’s Glasgow office, John has worked in traffic and transport planning consultancy in the city for the last 31 years where he has accumulated significant experience working on a wide range of private and public sector projects across the UK.

John has particular expertise in traffic assessment including traffic signal design and highway improvements.

Ross McDonald, director of traffic and transport planning in Scotland, said: “We are delighted to welcome John to Fairhurst where he will bolster the existing transportation team in our offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh. John brings vast experience to the team and his appointment is in response to increased demand for Fairhurst’s transportation services in the Central Belt, where we have been involved in key projects such as the Buchanan Wharf development in Glasgow city centre for Drum Property Group.

“John will play a key role in managing the traffic and transport aspects of a number of exciting new projects which are emerging in the Glasgow area.”

Neil McGarry, partner in the Glasgow office, added: “Fairhurst has around 150 technical staff based in the Glasgow and Edinburgh offices providing civil, structural, transportation, hydrology, water services, event health & safety planning, principal designer, mining and geo-environmental engineering services.

“We provide a co-ordinated engineering service to a vast public and private sector client base in the Central Belt and further afield. John’s appointment affirms our commitment to our clients, increasing our capacity in the traffic and transport planning sector.”

Fairhurst’s transportation team has a long history of success in the development sector across Scotland, providing transport planning and traffic engineering advice which enables and positively influences projects from inception through to completion. Repeat clients operate in a variety of sectors and include national housebuilders, property developers, hotel chains, blue-chip companies, healthcare providers, educational institutes, local authorities and government agencies.
