FORE announces return to work at Cadworks office development
The real estate investment firm behind the Cadworks speculative office development in Glasgow has announced the resumption of work on the project.
Work on the 94,000 sq. ft. development was paused in line with Scottish Government instructions, but FORE Partnership was permitted to re-start from June 15 with construction teams observing strict social distancing guidelines.
Cadworks, which will feature the country’s first cycle-in access ramp, is ensuring its workers’ safety with additional site facilities, COVID-related training, induction programmes, and dedicated health and safety officers.
Basil Demeroutis, managing partner at FORE, said: “Our first priority in returning to site absolutely is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of those working on Cadworks. We are doing this by working closely with our main contractor, Bowmer & Kirkland, to ensure appropriate measures are taken such as alternative working schedules, rotations and bespoke timetables for the workforce.
“Whilst safety is of course our number one priority, we are very conscious that as we have had to pause, so too have our suppliers, contractors, and their employees, so it is key to get everyone back in gainful employment and re-start the economy. We want to help Glasgow thrive again. Progress with our £23 million investment has already created around 200 jobs so far. Cadworks also stands strong as a pillar for the local community, having established partnerships with local charitable organisations.
“During the pandemic, we have seen a very significant decrease in pollution levels in Glasgow city centre, and our aim is to contribute to maintaining this vast improvement by completing Scotland’s most ‘green’ office building. Technology and smart sourcing of materials will be key in achieving this.”
Cadworks is due for completion in October 2021 and offers occupiers the possibility of early integration of their fit-out with the developer’s work.
