Garnock Community Campus formally handed over

3. Garnock foyerThe new £36 million Garnock Community Campus in Glengarnock has been successfully delivered on time and on budget to North Ayrshire Council.

hub South West Scotland were joined by representatives from development partner Kier Construction and North Ayrshire Council for the formal handover last month.

The brand new campus will serve Garnock Valley’s three main towns - Kilbirnie, Beith and Dalry, and will bring together pupils who currently attend Garnock Academy, Glengarnock Primary school and Glengarnock Early Years Centre in the new Beith Road location.

The All Through learning campus will cater for 1,500 students in total and features a state-of-the-art six-lane 25m swimming pool, fitness suite, theatre, multiple games halls and a synthetic pitch suitable for rugby and football.



1.garnock handoverAhead of the school’s official opening on January 10, Garnock Community Campus head teacher Alan Dick said: “We are all extremely excited that the opening is now just days away and our young people and communities will get to use this amazing new facility. We have all worked incredibly hard to get to this stage. I must pay tribute to all the staff for their hard work and dedication- this has been a real team effort.

“Those efforts have been rewarded with a new school that will be fantastic to teach in and just as fantastic to learn in.”

Managing director of Kier Construction’s Scotland & north-east England business, Brian McQuade, told Scottish Construction Now: “Our involvement with hub South West Scotland and close working partnership with North Ayrshire Council have helped us deliver this state-of-the-art educational and community facility, which will benefit young people in the Garnock Valley for years to come.

“Our focus on local economic growth and job creation has helped to support nine new jobs in the area, further illustrating our commitment to supporting and facilitating the regeneration of local communities.”
