In the interview, Hector explores how apprenticeships are a mutually beneficial route to take for both young people looking to upskill and gain valuable industry experience, as well as employers in the sector seeking to close the skills gap to support future-proofing the industry whilst helping to stimulate local economic growth.

On the subject of apprenticeships, Hector explains: “Apprentices have an unprecedented impact on businesses in Scotland and the wider economy. By creating opportunities, especially for those local to our projects, we can support the aims of local economic growth.”



Furthering the company’s commitment to apprentices through The 5% Club, Balfour Beatty is also a member of the Scottish Apprenticeship Advisory Board (SAAB), whose aim is to strengthen employer input and endorsement of the strategic direction of apprenticeships and work-based learning pathways.
