HLM shortlisted for prestigious industry award

Design and architecture company HLM has been shortlisted for Employer of the Year at the prestigious AJ100 Awards 2018.

HLM is one of 10 practices named to be in the running. Having previously been shortlisted and successful in the regional lists, this is the first time HLM has been recognised in the national list.

Success nominees in this category will be judged on staff satisfaction, workplace culture, benefits and staff turnover.

HLM’s people development efforts are widely known, having previously won the coveted People Development prize at the Glasgow Business Awards in 2017. These efforts range from the HLM Academy to the company’s strong values, lifestyle packages and family friendly initiatives. The HLM Academy is a professional excellence programme which helps ensure all employees receive training and development opportunities, enabling its team to work to the best of their ability.

Karen Mosley, HLM managing director, said, “We are all absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for Employer of the Year at the AJ100 Awards. At HLM, we’re very passionate about maintaining an environment where everyone feels valued and offers opportunity for everyone to flourish. Our culture is driven by a core set of values and this isn’t just about having a set of words on our walls. It’s about our commitment to each other, how we act and interact across every area of our business every day. Creating the right culture, with meaningful benefits leads to greater satisfaction and extraordinary achievements.”

HLM is behind the design of the University of Glasgow Learning and Teaching Hub, due for completion in 2019. It has been created to inspire flexible learning and interactive teaching in the heart of the campus.

The project has a strong focus on active learning, productivity and wellbeing to have a positive impact on the student community.
