Homebuilder unveils plans for Greenan site in Ayr

CALA Homes (West) has submitted a joint planning application for a proposed new housing development at Greenan in Ayr.

The homebuilder seeks to create a high quality development of 62 homes, off Dunure Road, within the previously consented site.

The proposals comprise four and five-bedroom detached homes and are part of a wider masterplan for around 500 private and affordable homes that are being delivered largely by Mactaggart and Mickel across 35 hectares of land to the southwest of Doonfoot. CALA’s proposals form part of phase five of that masterplan.

CALA said that the move represents a significant investment in the long-term future of the community – and it is delighted to be returning to the area, following an absence of several years, after its previous Kirk Green at St Quivox development.

Graham McNeil, land director for CALA Homes (West), said: “The submission of this planning application shows CALA’s commitment to once again deliver high quality homes in Ayr.

“Strength in design excellence and sector-leading build quality sets us apart from other developers.

“If approved, the homes will offer something different and appeal to buyers looking for a spacious, contemporary home, in a beautiful coastal location.

“We are looking forward to progressing the application with South Ayrshire Council and believe that the proposals respond well to the site’s unique characteristics and setting, and will enhance this area of Ayr.”

The applicants are targeting a positive planning decision from South Ayrshire Council around December this year.

If planning permission is granted, work is expected to start on site in April 2019, with the first residents taking occupation around 12 months later.
