Construction and infrastructure-focused partnership hub South West is supporting Lanarkshire Business Week with two key events.

Firstly, over 50 construction sector members of the highly-successful hub Club will be meeting at South Lanarkshire Council’s offices in Hamilton for a networking session from 11.45 until 2.00 on February 27.

Following that, potential suppliers to the construction industry in Lanarkshire will attend a forum to have the opportunity to show off their attributes to major construction companies.

Hosted by hub South West in partnership with Clyde Gateway Lanarkshire, a Supplier Showcase will be held on March 2, from 9.00am to 1.00pm at Rutherglen Town Hall, Main Street, Rutherglen G73 2JJ.

A public-private partnership of local authorities, NHS, blue light services and a clutch of Tier One contractors including Morrison, Graham, Morgan Sindall and Kier, hub South West’s development programme is aimed at ambitious companies in construction and related sectors based in south west Scotland.

It aims to secure at least 65% of major infrastructure contracts for local businesses; recycling the local pound, and creating opportunities for local businesses to thrive and expand.

hub South West CEO, Michael McBrearty, said: “hub South West is committed to engaging positively with the locally based supply chain with a view to helping them improve their chances of gaining hub contracts.

“By doing this, around £500m of the anticipated construction spend over the next five years will result in contracts for local companies and jobs for local people.”

The supplier showcase will accommodate 35 stands, 15 of which are reserved for Lanarkshire based businesses. Such has been demand that they are all sold. There will also be learning and information sessions running alongside the event as well as opportunities to ‘meet the buyer’. There will be free tea and coffee and a buffet lunch around 12 noon.

Anyone interested in attending should visit the hub South West website or contact Margaret Milton on 01698 464 556. Those who have missed out on a stand can still attend the event for free as a delegate.
