Kier Construction’s Scotland business has been recognised for the fourth consecutive year for its exemplary approach to health & safety by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The construction, services and property company collected the Gold Award from RoSPA at a ceremony in the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow last week.

It is the fourth time that Kier’s Scottish business has been recognised at this level, not just for its exemplary safety record, but also for its approach to health & safety as a whole, and Kier Construction Scotland and north east England’s Operations Director responsible for Health & Safety, Roland Duncan, said: “Health & Safety is top of our agenda at Kier. We work very closely with our supply chain partners to ensure our health & safety procedures are followed and that all parties embrace safety as our first priority throughout the working day.

“Our message is take time to do it safely; plan in advance and acknowledge that the workplace is an ever changing environment.

“We must take responsibility for our personal safety and for the safety of our colleagues and be mindful of our responsibilities to our families, to work safely.”

The RoSPA Award Scheme is the largest and longest running programme of its kind in the UK.

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager said: “RoSPA firmly believes that organisations that demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention deserve recognition. Kier’s Scottish business has shown that it is committed to striving for such continuous improvement and we are delighted to honour it through the presentation of a Gold Award.”
