Marshall Construction reviews design options for £8m Alyth Primary School

Marshall Construction has been appointed principal contractor for the design & construction of the new £8 million Alyth Primary School project in Perthshire.

The Alloa firm revealed that it had reviewed a number of innovative design options with Perth and Kinross Council for the new school, which is expected to be operational by August 2016.

Marshall Construction, which recently delivered the fully refurbished A listed “Community Hub” Speirs Centre, along with a 26 (+2) bed sit temporary accommodation units in Alloa, and is on the construction of its fourth Home Bargains store in Fraserburgh, having won on all four contracts by competitive tendering, secured the Alyth Primary project through Hub East Central Scotland Limited together with Perth and Kinross Council.

Heading up the design team, Gordon Saunders of Marshall Construction, said: “We hope to have exciting news shortly about the design of this innovative new school which will incorporate an existing 1800 A Listed building into the design. We are delighted to be delivering Alyth Primary School and as a company we have a strong track record of delivering high quality and best value schools and public buildings with lasting community benefits.”

Mr Saunders also outlined that Marshall Construction, which celebrated its 30th Anniversary year last year, will be working closely with all the participating stakeholders as the project develops.

He added: “We hope that the construction of the new primary school and community wing will be a learning experience for the children who will perhaps base some of their curriculum activities on the construction of their new school and hope to involve the local community through milestones within the construction process.”
