McLaughlin & Harvey has been appointed main contractor of two major education construction projects, with a combined value of £10.8 million.

The contractor was appointed to construct the £6.6m Bilston Primary in Midlothian and the £4.2m Levenmouth Campus Development in Fife, where work started earlier this month.

At Bilston, McLaughlin & Harvey’s Paisley office will deliver the complete design and construction of a single storey eight classroom primary school and nursery plus install a multi-use games arena, sports pitch with flood lighting and car parking facilities.

This will be the first school to cater for all primary ages in the village, accommodating up to 200 pupils.

The Levenmouth Campus Development is a joint development between Fife College and Fife Council to create a Community Education Campus comprising a secondary school and college outreach hub.

The contractor will create a 2,515 sq. m. two storey building providing accommodation for the college to deliver a range of entry level courses. The new college will comprise an engineering workshop, hairdressing salon, training kitchen, general teaching facilities, staff accommodation and café area.

Paul Griffen, construction director at McLaughlin & Harvey, said: “We have a rich history of building high-quality education facilities across the UK and it’s great to further our credentials in the sector with these two significant contract wins.

“We are proud that local people benefit from the projects we are involved in and we look forward to working with contractors from both regions to deliver these excellent educational facilities.”

McLaughlin & Harvey is also currently on site at University of Edinburgh Easter Bush Campus delivering the £32m innovation centre and campus hub.
