New designs unveiled for £200m Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary

Plans to build a £200m replacement for Dumfries Royal Infirmary have been officially unveiled by the consortium of Laing O’ Rourke, Ryder Architecture and Serco.

To mark the launch preferred bidder High Wood Health have published a set of interior perspectives illustrating care facilities patients can expect from the 350-bed hospital.

NHS Dumfries and Galloway chief executive Jeff Ace said: “High Wood Health have taken our reference design and produced a design for a fantastic new facility which will be built within exceptional surroundings.

“The design complements our plan for a new model of care both in terms of how our staff will work together in the new hospital, and with our staff across the region.”

NHS Dumfries and Galloway said the team would start construction of the facility next year, with construction work beginning shortly thereafter for completion by spring 2018.
