Initially rejected by Aberdeenshire councillors amid safety and privacy concerns, the plans appeared before the council again on Tuesday with significant revisions.

In the edited plans, ARD Properties agreed to address the concerns by changing the landscaping and road layout and adding a drainage scheme.

In line with council planners’ updated recommendations, the proposals have now been approved by the Buchan area committee, allowing the developers to begin construction.

Groundworks have already been taking place at the site as the developer had been given permission by environmental health officers to ensure the area was safe, the Press and Journal reports.

The homes will comprise of several styles of detached and terraced houses and bungalows and will have between two and four bedrooms each.
