Profile: The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity

The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity provides financial and emotional support to construction workers and their families who have suffered an injury or long term illness or simply need some extra support.

The charity manages a 24 x7 Construction Industry Helpline which provides free and confidential support and advice on issues ranging from, mental wellbeing, financial assistance and advice on legal, tax and debt management.

Last year, the helpline supported 1524 families. Of these, 449 construction families were delivered £736,000 in emergency financial aid. 1075 cases related to mental health and wellbeing, debt management and tax support / legal assistance.

The charity receives no public funding and relies entirely on the generosity of those within in the industry and their nationwide network of 21 independent, volunteer Regional Lighthouse Clubs to help them continue their vital work.

In Scotland there are three Lighthhouse Clubs, East, West and North, each of which raises a huge amount of money by holding a variety of fundraising events including, dinners, golf days, race nights and other social activities. The next two dates for the diary are the much loved annual dinners, so make sure you book your place soon.
