Having served on the Scotland board since 2013, PMP director John Edwards has now taken over from Ian Fergusson FRICS who served as chair from July 2018 – June 2019.

The role of the Scotland Board is to provide market insight and intelligence to help inform and deliver the overall strategy, to enhance the recognition and profile of RICS throughout Scotland as well as to enhance local member engagement. The board comprises RICS-qualified professionals, led by RICS.



John will focus on leading the Scotland board to help deliver the RICS business plan, driving the engagement with RICS professionals throughout Scotland and promoting the profession to young people across the country.

John leads PMP’s QS & Cost Management service delivery. Having worked in the UK and internationally for both consultancy and contracting organisations and has a wealth of commercial experience at all stages of the development process from feasibility to project financial control.

Three further new board appointments were confirmed as:

  • Alastair Wallace FRICS, senior partner, Thomas and Adamson
  • Jane Johnston MRICS, director of estate development, University of Edinburgh
  • Ann-Marie Campbell MRICS, head of operations, Technology and Innovation Centre, University of Strathclyde (co-opted)

Head of RICS in Scotland, Gail Hunter, said: “We are delighted to welcome our new board members and Chair at a pivotal time for the industry. As we move towards new technologies, and with greater focus on sustainability, our members will also work to encourage new and future talent into a career in surveying and demonstrate the diversity of work in the built environment.”
