Springfield Partnerships site manager, Alan Banks, has been named ‘UK Site Manager of the Year’ at the Premier Guarantee Excellence awards ceremony in London.

Alan and his team were recognised for delivering outstanding and exceptional quality homes in Edinburgh for Muirhouse Housing Association.

Following his award Alan Banks said: “It is really satisfying being part of the Muirhouse Development and feedback from tenants who have moved into the new homes has been outstanding. I know all the Springfield team are looking forward to seeing more tenants move in and benefit from these highly energy efficient homes.”

In addition, Springfield Partnerships and Muirhouse Housing Association have received national recognition as a finalist in the category of ‘UK Social Housing Development 2014’, also for the Muirhouse development.

The awards were organized and run by structural warranty provider Premier Guarantee and were created to recognise the UK’s best development.

Tom Leggeat, managing director at Springfield Partnerships, said: “We have worked hard with Muirhouse Housing Association to run an exemplar project. This national recognition is very much appreciated. Our partnership is delivering very high quality, low running cost homes for people who really need them. That is rewarding in itself.

“58 new tenants have already moved in and the second phase of 64 homes is progressing well. Feedback from tenants has been excellent.”

The Muirhouse development will deliver more than 200 new homes on a regeneration site. It is built to Silver Sustainability Standard, which means homes should be inexpensive to run, therefore contributing to the eradication of fuel poverty, an objective of the housing association and Springfield. Modern building practices and materials and renewable energy sources including air source heat pumps and solar panels all contribute to the development’s green credentials.

Brenda Toner, director of Muirhouse Housing Association, added: “It has been a pleasure to work with Springfield Properties in completing these high quality affordable homes and we are delighted that Alan Banks has been recognised as site manager of the year.

“The first two phases have been developed within budget to a high standard. Springfield staff, both at head office and on site have worked well with Muirhouse Housing Association. Good working partnerships and Springfield’s flexible approach has allowed changes in design and specification to be accommodated. This means we have been able to adapt to changing housing needs.

“Our tenants are delighted with the design and quality of their new homes. The local community has also commented on the positive impact the new development has had on the area. The local school rolls have increased as a result, and this has helped to stablise the community.”
