£10.5 million GHA regeneration moves forward

Tenants, councillors, and representatives from Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Government have visited the site of a new 116-home build on the site of two former tower blocks in Scotstoun.

GHA, Scotland’s largest social landlord, has contracted McTaggart to deliver the development.

The two blocks, demolished last year, will be replaced with 102 flats and 14 houses, with seven of the flats designed to wheelchair standard. There will also be a major £12 million upgrade of the four remaining blocks, which developers say will help ‘transform’ the site.

The £10.5 million project on the Kingsway Court site is expected to be completed around April 2016.

Bailie Liz Cameron, executive member for jobs and the economy at Glasgow City Council, said: “The development of these new houses and flats at Kingsway Court is great news for the area, bringing high-quality new homes and jobs for local people.

“I am delighted that the existing homes beside those currently being built have already been refurbished, and I look forward to seeing the whole project being completed.”
