200-home Stanley planning decision deferred due to road safety issues
Councillors have voted to delay a decision into plans for a major housing development in Stanley so the proposal can be determined alongside another application.
Perth & Kinross Council’s planning department was due to consider a bid to build 187 homes across 30 acres of land south of Duchess Street on Wednesday.
Local organisations had objected to the Muir Homes project because of fears that a new T junction the firm wants to create on the B9099/Perth Road could end up endangering drivers and pedestrians.
However the application had been submitted over two stages with the junction put forward as a separate plan.
Stanley and District Community Council (SDCC) and the Stanley Development Trust (SDT) filed formal objections to the company’s housing application back in September 2019, along with the Perth Active Travel Hub and ten local residents.
Council planning officials had chosen to recommend councillors approve the application and said the junction could be approved under delegated powers without coming before committee as the separate planning application for the road had received fewer than six comments.
However, a motion to defer the application to a later date when the junction and the housing plans could come before committee at the same time was approved by eight votes to three.
