Property investment group Marlebone wants to deliver Grade A office space plus a hotel, bars and restaurants between Washington Street and McAlpine Street.

The development of around 550,000 square feet would be more than 300 feet high with up to 25 floors.

A statement submitted to Glasgow City Council by Thomson Hunter Architects has noted: “The design concept is to introduce a significant and prestige mixed-use building into Glasgow’s streetscape.

“The granting of permission for this application will allow for the development of strategically important brownfield land which is currently under-utilised.”

It added: “To allow some architectural scope for the detailed structure needed as part of a full planning proposal we are suggesting at this time that a suitable building on the site should comprise two heights, those being 80.5m and 94m.”

If consent is given, further detailed plans would need to be brought forward for approval.
