ACHA gives green light to new homes in Dunoon
Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) has appointed local firm John Brown of Strone to build four new homes in Eton Avenue in Dunoon, three of which are special needs.
The homes are specifically designed to meet the needs of applicants on the association’s waiting list. The site in the centre of Dunoon previously housed buildings that had reached the end of their useful life and were demolished by the association. The site has potential for further phases, and this will be evaluated by the association based on housing need.
The contractor will start on site in April and work is due for completion in the Spring of 2023.
Alastair MacGregor, ACHA’s chief executive, said: “We are delighted to give the go-ahead for this new build development which will meet particular needs for applicants on our waiting list. I am pleased that a Cowal based company has won the tender. We in ACHA look forward to working with Gillies Brown and his team to bring this site back into use for affordable housing”.
The contract itself has a value of £1.128 million and has been designed to a high standard of energy efficiency, including air source heat pumps. This will be ACHA’s third new build development in Dunoon, following earlier completions in Ardenslate and Victoria Park
