Advertorial: Scotland Works to showcase life-saving and time-saving equipment at SEC

Scotland Works SECThe SEC, Glasgow will host Scotland’s largest gathering of Health & Safety, Facilities Management, Fire Safety, Logistics, Cleaning and Maintenance professionals at Scotland Works, a two day event designed to support Scotland’s industrial, commercial and public sectors in running safe and efficient businesses and organisations, taking place on 3 – 4 May 2017.

Set to become an annual fixture, Scotland Works, which incorporates the established Health & Safety Scotland, will also consist of five additional events - Facilities Scotland, Fire Safety Scotland, Safer Logistics Scotland, Cleaning Scotland and Maintenance Scotland.

Scotland Works will be made up of an exhibition showing the latest products and services, plus eight theatres each hosting panel debates and delivering a compelling range of presentations from leading industry experts covering best practise advice, policy and legislation.

Thousands of visitors are expected to visit including senior managers, decision makers and purchase influencers from across Scotland’s industrial, commercial and public sectors.

Over 300 exhibitors will showcase the latest products and services, with highlights including:

  • Gentex Corporation will be launching their new industrial powered air respirator, the PureFlo ESM+, as well as showcasing a concept design for the new anti-riot helmet which is based on an existing helmet currently used worldwide, including at President Trump’s inauguration

  • The new TASKI Intellibot, the first fully-automated commercial cleaners available in the UK and Europe, these innovative robots clean floors, leaving operatives to focus on other revenue-generating and value-added tasks

  • Bollé Safety will showcase Rush+ Glow eye protection which glow in the dark for a minimum of five hours when exposed to only five minutes of light, keeping the wearer safe in dark/ night-time working condition

  • Visitors to the DuPont stand can experience the benefits of DuPont™ Tyvek®500 HV coverall by donning a virtual reality headset which will immerse them in an environment that demonstrates the problems that ordinary HV (High Visibility) clothing can create when the HV performance of the garments deteriorates through use and laundering

  • The presentation of the Scottish Chamber of Safety Awards, including the Lord Cullen Award

    The Health & Safety Conference Theatre will host The British Safety Council Conference where content will include a mock Health & Safety trials facilitated by international law firm Pinsent Masons.

    In the Cleaning Conference Theatre Dianna Steinbach, Director of Europe, Middle East, Africa Member Services for ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association will deliver The Value of Clean bringing global insights to the local level and looking at challenges and opportunities facing the cleaning industry. And Kris Robertson, TASKI Leader UK & Ireland Diversey - Sealed Air Group will focus on the impact robotics will have on quality, cost and sustainability.

    The Facilities Theatre will host a panel debate led by Stan Mitchell, managing director for Key FM on What will Brexit mean for Scottish FMs; BIFM Scotland’s Preston Gan will be sharing his experiences on transforming culture and behaviours in an environment as established as the NHS

    At the Fire Safety Conference Theatre there will be a live demonstration of protecting against chemical explosions and Gary Hicks will present a session on Evacuating Buildings during a terrorist attack.

    In the Safer Logistics area Nick Welch, Technical Director, RTITB will discuss Taking a proactive approach to safety, while Glen Davies, Transport & Logistics Safety Forum, CILT will present on Raising Awareness of Safety on the Road

    In the Maintenance Conference Theatre Bryan Buchan, chief executive of Scottish Engineering, the primary voice of manufacturing engineering north of the border, will outline the key challenges and opportunities in the Scottish manufacturing sector, before focussing on the enormous potential of Internet of Things-enabled technologies in industrial sectors.
