Affordable homes proposed by Caledonia on former Dundee jute mill site

Taybank WorksCaledonia Housing Association has submitted plans to build 28 new affordable homes at the former Taybank Works jute mill site in Dundee.

If approved, the redevelopment of the derelict brownfield site on Morgan Street will see the existing buildings demolished to make way for 10 new flats and 18 houses for rent.

Designed by KDM Architects Ltd, the proposed properties have a high quality design with enhanced energy efficiency levels to help minimise energy costs for tenants.

The construction of the homes will boost local employment and continue the transformation of the Stobswell area through the redevelopment of a derelict site and the provision of much needed affordable housing.

Andrew Kilpatrick, Caledonia Housing Association’s asset management director, said: “Caledonia’s planning application for Morgan Street Dundee is a continuation of Caledonia’s goals to provide high quality affordable homes for rent throughout Scotland and part of our ambitious drive to build 1,000 new homes across our group partners over the next five years.”
