Akela Ground Engineering expands operations with new Midlands office
Akela Ground Engineering, part of Glasgow-headquartered Akela Group, has expanded and opened a new office, located at Optimum Business Park, Swadlincote in Derbyshire to support its growing business development ambitions across the Midlands and beyond.
Sister company, Tala Training Ltd, which provides health and safety training for the construction sector has joined Akela Ground Engineering Ltd at the new location with a two-classroom training facility.
The expansion comes at a time of significant growth for Akela Ground Engineering. The business has won a number of contracts for major UK housebuilders in the region and is currently working across a number of sites in Nuneaton, Coventry, Cheltenham and Leicester.
The new office in Swadlincote was carefully selected for its excellent connectivity and transport links to serve customers across England and Wales. Over the coming months the team based at this location will expand with Akela aiming for a 10-person-strong operation by the end of the year.
Managing director, Will Payne, oversees all UK operations for Akela Ground Engineering Ltd, and commenting on the new office, said: “Growing our UK footprint has been a key commercial goal for Akela Ground Engineering and we are delighted to have put down roots in the Midlands. This new hub allows us to continue to expand and manage our operations efficiently, build new relationships and deliver our ground engineering expertise to a wider range of clients.”
The Akela Group is headquartered in Glasgow and is one of the country’s largest multi-disciplinary construction services and civil engineering companies, with over 300 employees, working across the public and private sector.
