Akela Ground Engineering gets rigged out to support growth ambitions
Akela Ground Engineering has taken a bold move as part of their growth ambitions to make a significant investment in a new fleet of plant equipment.
The ground engineering company has taken this strategic move to strengthen its operational capabilities and to ensure its clients are benefitting from the most modern and sustainable plant and equipment the market has to offer.
It comes as Akela has recently announced its expansion into a new office in the Midlands.
The new fleet includes three JCB-JX piling rigs, fitted with BSP hydraulically accelerated hammers. The new piling rigs are capable of driving steel and concrete piles of up to eight-meter-long sections.
The new high-tech tracked rigs will boost the firm’s piling and foundations work, as well as enabling cost savings due to the lightweight and lower bearing pressure, which in turn reduces piling platform thickness. This also minimises ground disturbance and potential damage to sensitive surfaces, such as existing structures or soft terrains.
The rigs can adapt to a range of job conditions and requirements to maximise productivity and operational flexibility. The ease of transporting the new, lighter rigs can significantly reduce transport costs and carbon emissions associated with moving machinery between sites. Importantly, the new rigs are fitted with the newest tier-5 engines, which is essential, particularly with the implementation of low emission zones in major cities like London, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham and Glasgow.
Akela Ground Engineering managing director, Will Payne, said: “This significant investment in our fleet and technology demonstrates our commitment to providing the best possible service to our clients. It is an exciting time of growth for Akela Ground Engineering as we continue to expand our UK footprint and add to our team with new offices in the Midlands.
“By modernising our equipment and integrating advanced technology, we can enhance and deliver exceptional value and a wealth of environmental benefits to our clients and partners, particularly the leading house builders in the UK.”
