Whilst slightly nervous and a bit green about the gills, the thrill-seeking colleagues steadied their nerves and set off to take the walk along the bridge to the jump-off point.  From there they abseiled (free-fall style, like the S.A.S.!) 165ft onto the sandy beach below.

Phil Mycek, akp estimating manager, said: “I can honestly say that I was nervous when looking up at the jump off point from the ground, the abseil was daunting but an adrenaline rush with a real sense of accomplishment at the end.”

Louise Macleod, community events and fundraising manager at Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland, said: “Thank you very much for taking part in the Forth Rail Bridge Abseil and as our top fundraisers for the event, you are responsible for providing 217 hours of care!”

Neil spent four-and-a-half years with akp Scotland as a quantity surveyor and passed away in January 2023 aged 42 after experiencing a heart attack and brain aneurysm, leaving behind wife Stephanie and two children.
