Persimmon North Scotland has named Alfred Ombajen as its Apprentice of the Year, recognising his outstanding commitment, skill development, and contribution to the team.

Alfred, a second-year apprentice bricklayer, has been a key member of the Persimmon North Scotland apprenticeship programme, demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship, professionalism, and enthusiasm for learning. His dedication has set him apart as a standout apprentice within the business.

This recognition highlights Alfred’s exceptional work ethic, commitment, and dedication to his craft. It follows his achievement last year as a finalist in the prestigious “Apprentice” category at The Courier Business Awards, which celebrates the best business talent across Tayside and Fife.

James MacKay, Persimmon North Scotland managing director, said: “We are delighted to recognise Alfred as our Apprentice of the Year. His dedication to mastering his craft, his strong work ethic, and his commitment to delivering high-quality work make him a fantastic asset to our team.

“Apprentices like Alfred are the future of our industry, and we are proud to support his development.”

Alfred’s journey is a true story of resilience and determination. Having moved to Scotland from the Philippines at the age of 12, he overcame language barriers and cultural adjustments to excel in his career. His passion for construction was evident from the start, and after enrolling in an NPA course at Dundee and Angus College, his skills quickly stood out. He was soon spotted by Persimmon’s Apprenticeship Managers, who offered him a position in the programme.

Alfred Ombajen said: “I’m incredibly proud to be named Apprentice of the Year at Persimmon North Scotland. This recognition means a lot to me, and I’m grateful for all the support I’ve received from my mentors and colleagues.

“I’m excited to continue developing my skills and contributing to the team.”
