Algeco UK scoops green energy award for helping companies save on heating and lighting costs

Algeco UK’s Catherine Macfadzean receives the Energy Transition Award from Pearse Murray, Transmission Director at SP Energy Networks

Algeco UK has scooped a prestigious environmental award at the ScottishPower Supplier of the Year Awards in Glasgow earlier this month.

The company won the Energy Transition Award for trialling a new digital retrofit that can control heating and lighting, helping construction projects become even greener during the build of an energy infrastructure.

Algeco UK is a leading provider of permanent modular buildings, temporary accommodation and storage containers delivering construction expertise to diverse sectors including retail, commercial, industrial, education, health, defence and justice, and many more.

The Supplier of the Year Awards is designed to help ScottishPower celebrate the businesses helping it to spearhead the UK’s green energy transition.

ScottishPower says companies who have won awards are intrinsic to its work in doubling planned investment in critical energy infrastructure.

Algeco UK has a strong heritage with ScottishPower, having been part of its supply chain for more than seven years. Algeco provides temporary accommodation with AV+ units and Moduflex to some very remote and logistically challenging projects.

It is a supplier of choice for ScottishPower based on its commitment to innovation and sustainability within the temporary accommodation industry.

Charles Langan, chief financial officer of ScottishPower, said: “We want to recognise and celebrate the work of our wide and varied supplier base and I would like to congratulate and thank all the winners for their continued work to support the UK’s green energy transition.

“The energy sector is one of the UK’s biggest growth drivers and we injected over £2 billion into the economy over the first six months of this year. This shows how businesses right across the supply chain can benefit from the country’s clean power mission.”

Andy Brind, key accounts director at Algeco UK, said: “We are delighted to win such an important award, even more so in that it shows Algeco innovations can truly help companies be greener and play a part in protecting the planet’s valuable resources.

“We at Algeco will continue to innovate and make sure UK businesses will be at the forefront of greener energy solutions.”

Catherine Mcfadzean, key account director at Algeco UK, added: “This prestigious recognition was awarded to Algeco UK for trialling and ultimately supplying Smart Technology to help with the control and reduction of energy as well as hybrid power solutions. This contributes to a more sustainable construction project for ScottishPower during their substantial infrastructure investment.

“Working together with transparent communication has allowed Algeco to introduce products and services that can help support ScottishPower on their net zero journey.

“Carbon reduction remains a prominent focus for ScottishPower and with a collaborative approach, Algeco has been able to supply products which are helping ScottishPower work towards its goals today and for the future.”
