All change at top of Ashleigh Building

Ayrshire construction firm Ashleigh Building said it has laid the foundations for continued success as it unveiled the next stage of its succession plan.

After 25 successful years with the firm, David Smith has announced his intention to step down from the business in April 2026, and in doing so hands the reins to long-serving commercial boss Euan Clark, as part of a structured succession plan.

Euan Clark, current President of the Scottish Building Federation, has been with Ashleigh Building since 2004, and assumes the role of managing director. Having worked closely with David Smith in recent years, Euan has gained in-depth experience and insight into the responsibilities of the role, ensuring a seamless handover.

Mr Smith will act as chairman during his final year, with John McLeish widening his role from surveying director to commercial director.

Ashleigh Building said its continued success is reinforced by the strong leadership of its directors, including Iain Forbes, David Roan, and Colin Pyke, who will remain instrumental in guiding the company forward. This structured approach to leadership has been part of the company’s strategy for many years, ensuring continuity and sustained success for future generations.

David Smith said: “It has been a privilege to lead Ashleigh Building, and I am immensely proud of what we have achieved as a team. With Euan stepping into the managing director role, alongside John and our dedicated leadership team, I am confident the business is in excellent hands.”

Euan Clark added: “Having worked alongside David and the Board for many years, I am excited to take on this new challenge and continue driving Ashleigh Building’s success. Our focus remains on delivering excellence for our clients, and I look forward to leading our talented team into the future. They really are a huge asset to our company and we value them tremendously.”
