When Kevin Brown and Paul Cortese pulled together the £5k they needed to launch the firm in October 2017, they could only aspire to have achieved a long period of sustained, profitable growth.

After three and a half years of trading, they have grown Alpha Projects from a small start-up to a multi-million-pound business, directly employing almost 50 people across their two locations in Aberdeen and Dundee.

Working across a range of commercial, residential and local authority projects, from school & university refurbishments to private developments, Alpha Projects has developed a reputation for working collaboratively with an efficient, personable and reliable approach to its contracting services.

The commitment has paid off, with the company seeing steady growth in turnover from £2.1m in October 2019 to a projected turnover of £7.5m to October 2021. With realistic expectation, the company targets growth to £10m by year end 2022.

To accommodate the growth in work and staffing numbers, Alpha Projects recently leased and fully refurbished an additional industrial unit in West Pitkerro Industrial Estate, Dundee, to be used as a storage and workshop facility. In addition, the new facility provides additional meeting room and welfare space.

The business has also welcomed seven apprentice joiners to its growing team which boasts a combination of project managers, quantity surveyors, joiners, civils & building team and labourers. In line with the projected growth to October 2022, Alpha Projects is looking to increase its apprenticeship team from seven to ten during this period.

Founder and commercial director Paul Cortese said: “When Kevin and I started Alpha Projects in 2017, we had a clear vision for the business and were confident in what we could achieve. Despite having set ambitious targets for years one to three, our rapid growth has exceeded early expectations.

“In the immediate future, we look forward to consolidating and enhancing our position as a leading construction services provider in the north east of Scotland, whilst simultaneously providing apprenticeship and employment opportunities throughout the region. Our thanks extend sincerely to our loyal and talented team, and industry partners who have helped us on our journey.”
