Alyson Watt has been appointed Bellway’s first female acting site manager in Scotland.
Ms Watt, from Glasgow, joined Bellway’s West Division three years ago working as customer care administrator. However, she originally trained and worked as a plumber for four years and was keen to get back to a role working on site.
Following an informal chat with Scotland West construction director, Andy Borland, she soon transferred into an assistant site manager’s position and completed her HNC in Construction Management before stepping up to her new role this week.
In her new position she’ll be looking after the company’s Cloverhill development, a collection of 107 new and affordable homes, in Gartcosh. Alyson is also working towards gaining an SVQ Level 10 in Site Management.
Andy Borland, construction director, Bellway Homes Ltd (Scotland West), said: “From day one Alyson has shown a terrific ability to grasp the complexities of a live working site and is skilled at communicating with all the various people associated with a new development from customers to sub-contractors. She’ll be a great asset and it’s fitting that she’s embarking on her new role as we approach International Women’s Day.”
Alyson added: “I’m delighted with my new role and love working on site. No day is the same and we have a great rapport with all the site teams. It really is the best job.”
