Am Sci Tech confirms further investment at Aberdeen Energy Park

The Weatherford site

Manchester-based property company, AM Sci Tech – a subsidiary of Hurstwood Holdings – has reinforced its long-term commitment to Aberdeen, with the successful acquisition of the former Weatherford site at Aberdeen Energy Park in Bridge of Don.

This strategic acquisition further strengthens Hurstwood Holdings’ position as one of the most prominent property owners in Aberdeen.

The newly acquired site spans 7.23 acres and is located in the heart of the Energy Park and will be rebranded as The Horizon Centre. Approximately half of the site consists of a detached industrial unit extending to 22,005 sq ft (2,044.3 sq m) and a substantial secure yard. The unit also includes two-storey office space at the front, adding to its flexibility for potential occupiers.

AM Sci Tech is currently evaluating options for the remaining 3-acre development site, with further announcements expected in the coming months.

Gordon Pirie, asset manager at Aberdeen Energy & Innovation Parks, said: “The acquisition of this site is a fantastic addition to Aberdeen Energy Park, further reinforcing its status as a premier destination for industry and innovation. We look forward to marketing the unit and advancing development plans for the remaining site.

“Our commitment to Aberdeen remains strong and we believe The Horizon Centre will play a key role in attracting businesses looking for high-quality, strategically located facilities.”

Paul Richardson, partner at Ryden, added: “The Horizon Centre presents an ideal opportunity for a variety of uses, particularly for organisations involved in net zero initiatives, energy transition or decommissioning. The site’s strategic location, high-quality facilities and extensive yard space make it a prime choice for businesses looking to establish or expand their operations in Aberdeen. We are excited to bring this opportunity to market and anticipate strong interest.”

Aberdeen Energy & Innovation Parks continue to be a focal point for business, offering a diverse mix of modern multi-let office and industrial units designed to support a range of industries, particularly those in science, energy and technology. With the addition of The Horizon Centre, AM Sci Tech aims to enhance the park’s reputation as a thriving hub for commercial activity and growth.

The site benefits from excellent transport links to Aberdeen city centre and key arterial roads, ensuring accessibility across the region. The nearby AWPR has further enhanced connectivity between Bridge of Don and the wider city, making The Horizon Centre an attractive proposition for industrial and commercial businesses.

Surrounding occupiers at the Energy Park include Rubberatkins, ICR Integrity, Global Port Services, Hydro Group, ITS Testing Services, Ocean Installer and Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce.
