And finally… 820 feet high glass viewing platform opens at Chinese national park
A glass platform which stretches 11 meters from the edge of a cliff and stands 208 meters from the ground has been completed in China.
Set to open in Wulong National Geological Park in southwest China’s Chongqing city, the transparent ledges stands 820 feet above ground, nearly 4,000 feet above sea level, and measures 36 feet by 85 feet.
The platform will provide adventurous tourists with a breath-taking panoramic view of the landscape under their feet.
The park boasts three naturally-formed stone bridges, the largest such complex in Asia. In addition, it also has sinkholes, cliffs, caves and other Karst landforms.
According to Chinese news website en.people.cn, the project was designed and planned by a team of 20. It has been made from three layers of toughened glass, a single pane is able to bear a maximum weight of 10 tonnes.
The platform is due to open to the public before the upcoming week-long National Day holiday.
The project comes in response to the changing taste of tourists, as many are bored with “conventional sightseeing”.
