The overweight 28-year-old Chinese man, known only as Liu, had to be rescued by firefighters after falling into the well.

According to Luoyang Fire Service, he was trapped after falling through the wood covering the well in Fuliudian Village in Henan Province.

The fire service shared a video clip from the rescue last Friday, showing a team of firefighters pulling him out with ropes.

Firefighters said he probably would not have survived if he had not been “too fat” to fall all the way through.
