Being delivered by main contractor George Downing Construction, the accommodation will feature 310 cluster bedrooms and studio flats near to the developer’s West Village Accommodation Block on Beith Street.

It is due to open in September 2018.

Downing Students is running a competition for members of the public to choose an appropriate name for the new building.

Organisers suggest entrants to draw on the city’s culture, history and attractions when choosing a name - including sites such as the Glasgow Tower, Riverside Museum and famous underground system.

Unsurprisingly, ‘Building McBuildingface’ will not be accepted as an entry.
