And finally… Construction begins on Ferrari Land
The ceremonial “first stone” has been laid at a Ferrari theme park in Spain.
Billed as the “single most important project in the history of PortAventura Resort,” the €100 million Ferrari Land theme park will cover 75,000 square meters (807,293 square feet) and boast “world-class attractions specially targeted at families while also offering adrenalin-charged activities for F1 fans such as high-end technology simulators”.
Details are limited but Ferrari Land will feature recreations of iconic buildings from Maranello as well as “architectural references to the great monuments representing Italian genius”. The park will also have a 112 meter (367 foot) tall vertical accelerator which promises to give passengers an F1 experience as they will accelerate from 0-180 km/h (111.8 mph) in just five seconds.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2016 and, if everything goes according to plan, the park should open shortly thereafter.
