And finally... Construction chic

Spanish designer brand Balenciaga is being ridiculed online over its £2,890 hi-vis ‘construction worker’ jacket.

The design house, which is known for its over-the-top creations, unveiled the padded parka as part of its autumn/winter 21 collection.

The description on online retailer FarFetch reads: ‘For AW21, Balenciaga staged a dystopian collection, where the looks represented a sort of armour for everyday life.

‘In a neon yellow hue, this padded parka coat is defined by the practical reversible design and the padded silhouette. The look is finished with a logo print at the chest and rear.’

Made entirely from polyester, the Balenciaga jacket is neon yellow on one side and black on the other, while also having the brand’s logo visible.

It is currently only available in size XS and S.

Social media users poked fun at the design, with one posting: “My dad had this jacket when he was a construction worker.”

A second added: “When you got Fashion Week at 3 but tarmacking the M6 at 7.”

The post comes just weeks after the brand raised eyebrows for selling a £1,350 knitted hoodie covered in holes.
