And finally… Construction revealed as most hygienic profession
Construction workers have pipped medical and hospitality staff to the title of most hygienic profession after a new survey revealed they take an average of 14 showers per week.
The poll into how often Britons shower revealed that education and IT workers are most likely to neglect their hygiene.
A total of 3,769 UK-based Britons aged 18 and over were surveyed for the purposes of the research. There was an even gender split amongst participants taking part and all were employed full-time in a range of UK industries at the time of taking the survey.
When asked to reveal if they washed their hands after every trip to the bathroom, the vast majority of Britons (61 per cent) stated that they did so with soap. A further 22 per cent stated they typically just use water and no soap, with the remaining 17 per cent revealing they don’t wash their hands every time they use the bathroom.
All respondents were then asked to disclose further details about their hygiene during the recent bout of hot weather. When all respondents were asked to reveal how many times a week they shower, the average answer amongst those polled emerged as 8.5 times per week. When results were then broken down to reveal the most hygienic industries, the top ten answers emerged as follows:
Lyndon Wood, CEO and creator of constructaquote.com, who conducted the research, said: “Whilst it may be baffling to some people that those working on construction sites shower more than those who work in doctors surgeries and hospitals, it actually makes perfect sense. Even just walking around outside on a hot day is difficult and results in many a sweaty Brit, so just imagine having to work a manual job in this heat; no wonder they need two showers a day to cool down! It’s nice to know that these professionals keep themselves clean and take care of themselves, even in such a physically demanding job.”
