And finally… Crazy golf architecture tour begins at Alfred Dunhill Links Championship
A tour of crazy golf holes designed by architects commenced at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship today.
Architects and designers from all over the Dundee Institute of Architects (DIA) Chapter were invited to design a crazy golf hole incorporating a recognisable architectural landmark. The best nine (which include V&A Dundee, the Falkirk Wheel, the Royal Arch and the Tay Bridge) were selected and constructed by the DIA’s partner contractors.
The tour is one of more than 400 events taking place across Scotland during 2016 as part of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) organised Festival of Architecture, and a key part of the Scottish Government’s 2016 Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design celebrations.
Ged Young, DIA Festival of Architecture coordinator said: “The 9 crazy golf holes celebrate the creativity of architecture and hopefully the buildings displayed trigger the memories captured by those who visit our cities, towns and countryside.”
Christine Palmer, President of Dundee Institute of Architects, added: “We hope that this fun event will get people thinking about the buildings around them and are extremely grateful to all the designers, constructors and all those, too numerous to mention, involved in bringing this project to fruition.”
The tour will visit several other destinations throughout October in Glenrothes, Perth, Pitlochry and Arbroath, concluding at Dundee’s City Square 29 & 30 October.
